Information -- Social

Social structure is an ambiguous affair with most Syon on foreign worlds, but on their homeworld of Lesthpoldia, due to the dwindling numbers of resident Syon, an ancient societal system has been reinstated and reinforced in order to ensure that there is no war or needless death.

A formal gathering of Syon is known as an Alhaitro [al hy' trow], which can be roughly translated as 'tribe of sisters.' 'Sister,' in the Syon's native language, is a very vague term - its meaning is more accurately translated as 'companion,' though it does carry a femenine connotation, as all words having to do with love and kindness in their language are femenine. The leader of an Alhaitro is called the Alhaeiti; the Alhaeiti [al hey' tee] is usually female, but there have been influential male Alhaeitis in the past.

The Alhaeiti is not, of course, forced to lead alone - there will always be another Syon to aid him or her, usually the lifemate of the Alhaeiti. This Syon is usually of the opposite sex; the only case where it would be of the same gender would be if it and the Alhaeiti were lifemates. The lifemate of a female Alhaeiti is called the Alhaeito; the lifemate of a male Alhaeiti is called the Alhaeita.

Each Alhaitro has at least three other members, meaning that an Alatro has at least five fully grown Syons in it. Usually, an Alhaitro has members in the same category of magic, but this is not always true. These other Syons live and breed together, and help each other out during hard times. Any hatchling born to two Syons in the same Alhaitro is automatically a member of said Alhaitro, but all others that want to join that Alhaitro must have their Ceremony of Declaration first.

Though it is rare, some Syons choose to leave their Alhaitro; this may or may not be supported by the other members. The most common reasons for a young Syon to leave are because it does not get along with the others or because it wishes to form its own Alhaitro; if an older Syon leaves, it has probably been exiled.

There are currently no Alhaitros off Lesthpoldia, though there may be in the future, when more Syons are born and have their Ceremonies of Declaration.
